BLAKE LIVELY Gossip Girl Celebrity colorist and Goldwell affcianado, Rona OConnor of Lukaro Salon in Beverly Hills, is responsible for the sophisticated shade of blonde that Blake Lively sports as a Manhattan socialite on Gossip Girl. Its a blushed golden blonde with beige undertones and ivory accents, says OConnor, who named the shade Rose Gold Blonde back Oliver Stones Savages, and because it refected the color of marigolds, she named it Marigold Blonde. For her recent Gucci ad campaign, Lively sports a shade OConnor calls Crme Brulee. In the six years that OConnor has been doing Livelys color, theyve become close friends. I think of her as family, OConnor says. Weve spent a in 2008 when she created it. To keep her signature shade in tip-top shape, she sees colorist Christopher Pierce at Andy Lecompte Salon in West Hollywood, who relies on Igora Royal Permanent Hair Color by Schwarzkopf Professional because it delivers color with a true fashion edge. Just for fun, we asked Aloxxi celebrity colorist Marco Pelusi to take a look at this photo of Walsh and tell us what he thinks her Aloxxi color personality might be. Ravish Me in Ravenna, says Pelusi without hesitation. Its a luscious mix of auburn and redcopper brown. Rona OConnors advice for creating dramatic redheads is to go over the top by adding slivers of super-bright color to a more natural shade. DEBRA MESSING Smash Rona O'connor has also been doing Debra Messings hair for years. I use Goldwell because it offers a wide range of colors that Ive been able to blend into signature shades, says OConnor, who named the frst shade of red she created for her famous client Honeyed Copper. OConnor likes to mix cool and warm tonesruby red slices with rich copper and accents of goldto suit Messings skin tone and eye color. Her tip for any colorist who wants to create a special shade of red is to have no fear. Go over the top by adding slivers of a super-bright color to a more natural shade, she says. It will take your reds to a whole other level.
