business class seeing is believing Aloxxi just streamlined the consultation process to make your job easier. Marco Pelusi SHOW, NOT TELL with Aloxxis new consultation book. Photos of blondes, brunettes and redheads accompany color swatches (the name of each shade is printed underneath each swatch). Te idea is to encourage a dialogue between colorist and client to eliminate miscommunication. 50 The Colorist | JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2013 | thecoloristmag.com one thing to show a client a swatch of color and quite another to show her how that same shade would actually look on her hair. No wonder Aloxxi celebrity colorist Marco Pelusi nds the companys updated consultation book with its photo montages of blondes, brunettes and redheads so useful. My clients can come in, ip through the book and nd just the shade they want, says Pelusi, who has found the tool to be invaluable when it comes to choosing the right shade of red. Dont Prosciutto the Messenger is a very coppery red, but Ravish Me in Ravenna is a darker shade, more blood-red. Now, instead of just looking at a swatch, my clients can see how both shades actually look on real women and choose the color personality thats right for them. So just how important is the consultation? I always say that listening is the most important part of my job. If I havent listened to my client, it doesnt matter how good I am at what I do because she wont be happy, says Pelusi, who spends at least 15 minutes with each new color client to make sure theyre both on the same page. Still, Pelusi admits that what his clients want and what he can safely deliver are often two very dierent things, and thats where this new consultation book comes in handy. Te photos allow me to show her a few dierent options, and theyre a lot better than a photo she might have cut out of a magazine. Ultimately, its all about helping each client discover her color personality. Is she Blonde Bambino? Brilliant Bergamo? Amal Chic? Te point is, infusing color with personality helps you tell her story through color, and if that means saying goodbye to boring 7G or 8N, so be it.
