SHARE THEIR HEAD-TURNING FORMULAS WITH US. TRACEY CUNNINGHAM MARCO PELUSI KIM VO Redken Celebrity Spokesperson Aloxxi Celebrity Colorist Schwarzkopf Professional BLONDME Brand Ambassador Gwyneth Paltrow Tracey Bregman Kate Hudson Shes a natural blonde so I use Redken Color Gels to lift her hair up one shade, then go in with Redken Blonde Dimensions Dust-Free Conditioning Lightener to add highlights, says Tracey Cunningham. Once she achieves the lift she wants, Cunningham tones with Redken Shades EQ 9NB (Irish Creme) and 9G (Vanilla Creme). Shes played Lauren Fenmore on The Young and the Restless for the past 20 years and is something of a beauty icon in the world of daytime soaps, known for her fabulous red locks. Ive been doing her color for years, and the trick has always been to achieve a full-bodied, well-balanced, long-lasting red with dimension, says Marco Pelusi, who describes Bregmans Aloxxi Colour Personality as Dont Proscuitto the Messenger. After applying her base color ( oz. Aloxxi Chroma 7N, oz. 7G, oz. 7RK and oz. 7K), Pelusi adds highlights (Aloxxi Lightener with 20-volume developer) and low-lights (equal parts Aloxxi Chroma 7RK and 7K with 20-volume developer). I think shes been working out or eating better because she looked great at The Golden Globes, says Kim Vo. Actually, Kim, we think it was her hair colora creamy, buttery blonde that oozed sophistication. Its as if she fnally came of age. I used Schwarzkopf BLONDME Premium Lift 9+ and painted it on, using a technique I call Voliage. Were giving Kate an honorary Golden Globe for Most Improved. Drew Barrymore The new mom is rocking a rich brunette shade with natural highlights thanks to Cunningham, who got the look by applying Redken Shades EQ in 6WF and 9AA all over. Next, she mixed Redken Chromatics NW and 6G with 10-volume peroxide, which she applied at the root to deepen the color there. Drew will always be Drew, so she could ask for something totally different a month from now, Cunningham says. Guess well have to wait and see. Katherine Heigl Shes naturally light, but I like to give her that golden girl touch, says Vo, who has been experimenting with the six toners in Schwarzkopf Professionals BLONDME line to make subtle changes to Heigls color, say, using Sand and Caramel one time to create a warmer palette, then Ice and Steel Blue or Ice and Sand another time for a cooler palette. thecoloristmag.com | MARCH/APRIL 2013 | The Colorist 41
