One thing I've discovered doing my Business of Color seminars is that most colorists feel uncomfortable with pricing, but ignoring the issue only creates a confused and irritated client at checkout. Some of the discomfort may stem from not having a clear understanding of the salon's color menu or color services, which is why salon management needs to provide proper training so pricing is not only accurate but also consistent. Because of variables related to the color process, salon receptionists should never quote dollar amounts over the phone. Instead, guests should be referred to the salon's website for a list of services and prices, which can be discussed again during the consultation process. Tis practice most definitely eliminates confusion and discrepancies over pricing. REMEMBER, empowering the salon team to feel comfortable about pricing and the value of their work is a powerful step toward solidifying the salon's reputation and credibility. open hearts Colorist Marie Ferro joined longtime client Jane Seymour at the Tird Annual Open Hearts Foundation Gala in Malibu recently.
