Schiraldi was General Manager for Redken in Australia, where he was responsible for a significant turnaround in the business there. Walter Claudio, owner of Walter Claudio Salon Spa in Santa Barbara, California, and founder of the HeadMapping Color System, writes in this space about growing your color business. While I have discovered that many salons offer only a full and a partial highlight service on their menu, I believe that two options are not enough. Giving your guests more options allows both colorist and client to pick and choose the right partial service based on needs or budgetary concerns. Not all partial color services are the same (one might cover the top and sides while another covers the top, sides and nape) so it is important to differentiate one from the other based on coverage and price point. Offering a partial new-growth service that covers the hairline, top and sides works well for clients who need to come in more frequently for root touchups. Offering more affordable services prevents clients from doing their color at home and keeps them coming back for regular scheduled maintenance REMEMBER, more choices leads to more opportunities to grow and maintain a thriving color business. ➥ PHOTOGRAPHY(CLOCKWISE FROM TOP LEFT): COURTESY OF WELLA PROFESSIONALS; COURTESY OF MATRIX; ERIC SMITH. ➜ Wella Professionals held its annual North American sustainable solutions
