➻ natalie van klompenberg h ➻ julian macias k { CHI } { ALOXXI } is a colorist at Fringe Salon and Color Bar in Houston, Texas, and an educator with Aloxxi. "Te creativity of working with hair color is exciting for me," she says. "I have a thing for color theory and how color in general works. I love color placement, working with the shape of the head and making color pop in different areas." In her five-year plan is some travel and platform work, but she never wants to leave the salon. "I love my clients, and I love giving them the kind of service they've come to expect." ➻ erin kolman l { KERATIN COMPLEX} is the Artistic Director at Fresh Hair Studio in Southampton, Pennsylvania, where she's lucky enough to have Deb Gavin as a mentor. Her "aha" moment came when she stepped into a salon at the age of 15 and knew that it was where she wanted to be. "As I have bright, colorful hair and tattoos, I think it's obvious that I'm drawn to the louder side of any look," says Kolman, who is grateful for the education she's received at Fresh Hair Studio where she has been "saturated in training." is an International Hair Artist for Farouk Systems and one of the youngest NAHA fnalists, garnering nominations in two separate categories. Traveling all over the world, Macias fnds inspiration in everything from architecture to the neon lights of Las Vegas that bring shapes and colors alive. "I always tell young artists and students that if they want to be where I am one day that they need to do what I do and use what I use," he says. ➻ sammy van valkenberg d { L'ORÉAL PROFESSIONNEL} knew that she wanted to work at Jet Rhys Hair Salon in San Diego because they specialize in color, which was her passion in beauty school. With her career on the fast track right now, she looks forward to becoming an educator and senior colorist with a full book.
