I t seems like every actress in Hollywood—think Anne Hathaway, Michelle Williams and Ginnifer Goodwin—is rocking a pixie these days, so for our annual Hollywood issue we asked Matrix Artistic Director Chrystofer Benson to show us how haircolor can up the wow factor in a boyish crop. "T e color placement was inspired by awards season and all the beautiful jewels seen on the red carpet," says Benson, who wanted to build a shine line in the haircut that mirrored the refl ection seen in jewels caught in the light. Create a 1.5-inch section parallel and above parietal parting one inch from the front hairline, extending along parietal and below occipital with a v-shaped section in the back; knot and secure. Mix Formula A: 2-ounces Matrix COLORINSIDER 4RV + (4.62+) and 2-ounces 10-volume COLORINSIDER Oil-Cream Developer. Mix Formula B: 2-ounces COLORINSIDER 5RV+ (5.62+) and 2-ounces 10-volume COLORINSIDER Oil-Cream Developer. Mix Formula C: 2-ounces COLORINSDER 6RV+ (6.62+) and 2-ounces 20-volume COLORINSIDER Oil-Cream Developer. 2 Apply Formula A to all hair outside sections one and two. When complete place foil to prevent color transfer. 3 Apply Formula A at scalp area. Apply Formula B to mid- lengths and ends in section two. When complete place foil to prevent color transfer. 4 Apply Formula A to entire 1-inch fringe region. When complete place foil to prevent color transfer. 5 Apply Formula A to scalp area. Apply Formula C to mid- lengths and ends of section one. When complete place foil to prevent color transfer. Process for 35 minutes.
