36 The Colorist | SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2014 | thecoloristmag.com IT'S TIME TO SPICE THINGS UP FOR FALL, AND THAT MEANS BYE-BYE OMBRÉ! HOT COPPER, AMBER AGAINST CHOCOLATE AND SEXY ROUGE-RED CAN ALL ENHANCE VARIOUS SKIN AND EYE TONES. —BETH MINARDI, Color Creator Beth Minardi NYC T e hottest brunette look for fall is "Molten Caramel." It's a deep golden caramel color with a kiss of amber. A great way to update a client's late-summer sun-kissed hue for fall is to isolate pieces with conditioner. I wrap those pieces with plastic wrap before applying that gorgeous caramel color all over. —KIM VO, Schwarzkopf Professional Blonding Ambassador ➺ To enhance all shades of brunette, I like to use the "Flashlight" technique, applying color from base to ends. As with a reverse ombré or free-hand painting, this double- shaded brown has luxury and interior shadows. Stay within the same tonal family and choose a two-level difference for the interior panels. By placing and saturating the mid-lengths and ends with the deeper shade, you'll create seamless diffusion from the scalp. This new trending brunette is a signature for all of your canvases. —JOHN SIMPSON, Goldwell International Guest Artist formulas is ¼ Redken Cover Fusion in 5NCR and ¾ Redken Cover Fusion in 4NN. Always follow with an all-over glaze formulated within the burnished-brown copper family, say, two levels lighter than 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. the zone 1 formula. My fave? Redken Shades EQ (¾ O7C and ¼ O3A). Your color will be perfect from scalp to ends. —CHARLET PELISSIER, Redken Color Consultant TIPS AND TRICKS FOR BRUNETTES ➺ TIPS AND TRICKS FOR BRUNETTES ➺
