8 The Colorist | NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2014 | thecoloristmag.com here comes the bride PHOTOGRAPHY: CATHY HINESLEY; COURTESY OF IZZAZU SALON, SPA & SERATA Marianne Dougherty EDITOR IN CHIEF mdougherty@creativeage.com M y youngest daughter, Erin, got married on a picture-perfect fall day at West Overton Village and Barn in a small town in the Laurel Highlands south of Pittsburgh this September. It took a village—and Pinterest—to pull it off , from the handmade centerpieces on every table to cones made from paper doilies that held bird seed, which we tossed at the bride and groom as they exited the small barn after the ceremony. T e village I mentioned previously included the Serata team at Izzazu Salon, Spa & Serata in Pittsburgh, where the bride and her attendants had their hair and makeup done. Owners Emilio Corrnachione and Gino Chiodo have been friends for more than 20 years, and they graciously off ered to pull out all the stops to make Erin's wedding day one she'll never forget. When Emilio and Gino relocated a few years ago, they included an intimate styling and relaxation space called a serata (Italian for "an evening out") on the mezzanine level of the salon to provide a stress-free zone for the entire bridal party. On the day of Erin's wedding, we were greeted by Renée, the Serata concierge, who had set up a buff et area for the brunch we'd brought with us and provided champagne glasses for toasting. A team of four hairdressers and two makeup artists went into action, while Emilio off ered to style my hair for the occasion. Erin had chosen a 1930s theme for her wedding, and Missy waved her hair before creating a low side part and pinning a few errant pieces out of the way. With her Camelot veil in place, she looked like Lady Mary on Downton Abbey, which is to say, molto bella (very beautiful). T anks to the Serata team for sharing their time and talent to make Erin's wedding so memorable.
