"I've learned more than I could have imagined from Gerd," says Vanessa, who works at Hidden Hairpin in San Pedro, California. The payoff for being a colorist? "To see how even a small change can make your clients so happy," she says. ➻ ciara cipriano s { KERATIN COMPLEX } is lucky enough to be Deb Gavin's protégé at Fresh Hair Studio in Southampton, Pennsylvania. "She taught me some of my toughest lessons and has helped me work toward my greatest successes," she says. Gavin's best advice? "Once you touch it, you own it," says Ciara, who plans to combine her college degree and the knowledge she's gained working behind the chair to elevate the experience of hair color nationwide. ➻ amy niles, l { WELLA PROFESSIONALS, KERATIN COMPLEX } knew she'd be a colorist at Mario Tricoci in Chicago before she ever started beauty school. "Painting and artistry is something that's been in my family for generations," says Amy, who believes that education is the key to success. To that end, she now educates future colorists at Mario Tricoci in a weekly class setting and has been certifi ed to educate for Wella Professionals and Keratin Complex. MEMBER OF COSMETOLOGISTS CHICAGO ➻ madison loren d { WELLA PROFESSIONALS } was nominated by Ginger Boyle, who knows a thing or two about f nding and developing raw talent. "I hire handfuls, and Madison was a handful at f rst," says Boyle, who hired Madison right out of Paul Mitchell The School. "She's def nitely been a challenge, but she's a natural, who has an exciting career ahead of her." Case in point: Recently Lisa Shriver- Brooks, who owns DIVA Studio in Las Vegas, visited Planet Salon and couldn't take her eyes off Madison. Says Boyle, "She has a lot of ability."
