➻ trixie dickinson k { CHROMASTICS HAIR COLOR } is the Vice President of Education at Moxie Hair Salon in Minneapolis, where owner Stephen Adams hired her specif cally to educate other hairdressers. As an up-and-coming educator with Chromastics Hair Color, she has had the privilege of working with color guru Tom Dispenza, and was named a Chromastics Rising Star at the company's Shades of Excellence event in Orlando, Florida, this year. ➻ shawnee heltsley j { FAROUK SYSTEMS } works at T e Mixing Bowl in Charleston, South Carolina. Hair color, she says, is one of the fi rst ways we physically describe ourselves. "It's part of our identity." Quick to identify the legendary Farouk Shami as a mentor— "He's a brilliant man who has been very inspiring to me," she says—Shawnee was asked recently to join the Creative Artist Team for Farouk Systems. "Now I have a whole other world to explore and conquer." ➻ ginette minarik k { REDKEN } works at Headcase Salon in San Jose, California, where she admits she has a "deep love affair with hair color." No wonder. Her go-to hair color gurus are Redken's Kris Sorbie and Tracey Cunningham, who have taught her to set lofty goals for herself. Right now she's spreading the word about a book she wrote for beauty school grads called A Cosmo's Guide to the Industry. You go, girl. ➻ alyssa shatek g { OYA } works her hair color magic at Blaze Color Salon in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. "Nothing excites me more than when I can make a woman feel beautiful or even sexy. The transformative power of hair color continues to amaze me," says Alyssa, who cites Belinda Gambuzza as a role model. "She makes even the most complicated techniques look simple." ➻ franklin falkowski d { AVEDA } is a talented hair colorist at Gary Manuel Studios in Seattle, Washington. "Color in general has always fascinated me," says Franklin, who won an Editorial Choice Award in 2012 when he competed in a photo shoot competition at the salon. His mentor? Aveda Global Master Ana Karsis. "She has been very inspiring to me, not just for her amazing attitude but for her take-a-risk attitude that has helped me so much in my career," he says.
