From the vintage couches and mirrors to the Craftsman toolbox stations and displays made from fallen tree branches, Salon Christine's decor is 100 percent refurbished and recycled—and each piece is moveable. Goodis, who had a background in theater before becoming a hairdresser and working with such notable talents as Vivienne Mackinder, Trevor Sorbie, Irvine Rusk and Dwight Miller, says rearranging the salon allows her to alter the mood and atmosphere. "It gives me a new and fresh outlook to see my guests in," Goodis says. "I love how they look around in awe every time this charming studio is reconfi gured." ➜ PORTLAND, MAINE At Coco Cheveux, owner Tiffany Conway has been f nding that not all of the salon's clients want their gray totally covered. "Some of our clients want a modern look that enhances their gray, a customized look made just for them," Conway says. To that end, Conway created a menu offering gray service options that provides the opportunity to upgrade every client— both men and women—to a color client. She dubbed the eye- catching look "Setting Into the Sun." "It's not every day you get to do something fun and creative when a guest sits in your chair," DeFrancesco says. "This guest is a musician, so her lifestyle allows for individuality."
