38 The Colorist | NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2015 | thecoloristmag.com patrick higgins k { GOLDWELL } says his goal as a KMS California national artist is to "spread the love and knowledge of hair." Higgins puts his color skills to work every day at Salon Da'Voe in Williamsville, NY. It's his attention to detail that keeps clients coming back. "When applying a basic retouch, I fan out the color rather than just doing a 1-inch section," Higgins says. "It breaks up the demarcation line, giving the retouch different hues in different lighting." ➻ blake reed evans f { REDKEN } is a Redken artist with a passion for the artistry and science of hair color, as well as the education manager at Shear Art Salon in Tampa, FL, who was nominated by mentor and renowned educator Sam Villa. "I just want to pass on to the world the gems Sam has given me," Evans says. ➻ summer taylor l { KERATIN COMPLEX } is a Keratin Complex educator who recently became a member of the brand's Elite Inspiration Team, which has allowed her the good fortune of honing her hair coloring skills under the expert tutelage of Deb Gavin. "I live by the motto: 'Love of beauty is taste; creation of beauty is art,'" Taylor says. Well said. ➻ lindsay henderson ryffel j { ARTEASE } is a hairstylist based in Orange County, CA, but she and her business partner regularly travel around the country teaching colorists the art of balayage at their perennially sold-out The Business of Balayage classes. "I've always had a knack for styling hair—I did bridal while I was in college—and decided it was time to make this a career," says Henderson of her decision to enter beauty school at 23. "I haven't looked back."
