40 The Colorist | JULY/AUGUST 2016 | thecoloristmag.com Rosa Jurenas SCHWARZKOPF PROFESSIONAL As an alternative to covering grays, more and more clients want to go natural gray. However, as hair matures, it looses melanin, which often results in limp, frizzy or yellow- tinged hair. To address this need, Schwarzkopf Professional has created Igora Royal Absolutes SilverWhite, which is available in four different shades: Silver, Dove Grey, Slate Grey and Grey Lilac. The colors keep clients looking fashion-forward and elegant, and create an overall beautiful, polished gray hair look. Take large slices starting at the nape on a diagonal to alternate and pull these two formulas to the ends. 3 | Process 30 minutes. Richy Kandasamy TIGI Regardless of the color you use, the key to gray coverage is to properly assess the hair texture to determine formulation and processing time. Because TIGI Copyright©olour is a fully intermixable brand, you have complete control over your coverage result. Thicker hair may require mixing in a quarter of a level darker to your formula to get maximum depth. For coarser hair, you may need to process the color f ve minutes longer for complete coverage. Plus, you can manage coolness of tone by mixing neutral and natural Creative (permanent) shades together or intermix Creative and Gloss (demi- permanent) for more multidimensional, soft- permanent results. } } Dean Roybal WELLA One of my favorite tools for achieving believable, beautiful gray coverage is the new Wella Koleston Perfect Innosense Mineral Shades, which deliver rich depth and shine. For this look inspired by Wella's 2016 Molten Ecaille trend, I alternated cool and warm tones, creating a light and shade pattern that dances and plays throughout the hair. } PHOTOGRAPHY (FROM TOP): COURTESY OF SCHWARZKOPF PROFESSIONAL; COURTESY OF WELLA
