Aveda artist Heggy Gonzalez
took a cue from 1920s and '30s
hairstyles and fashion when
creating her gender-bending
Man's World collection, seen
exclusively in The Colorist. "I
wanted to take the menswear
movement and classic techniques
to create interest, working with the
models' features," says Gonzalez,
who serves as the creative director
of Aveda Institutes Colorado,
Arizona and Utah. Gonzalez used
Aveda Full Spectrum Hair Color
and color melting—keeping foil
usage to a minimum—to achieve
the bold color looks.

Heggy Gonzalez
created a slightly
gray "dirty" root
to add depth and
dimension to this
icy blonde.
