PHOTOGRAPHY; COURTESY OF GOLDWELL (3); COURTESY OF ALOXXI (3) THE LOOK Hair color rarely makes an appearance on the runway, but at the fall/winter 2017 Baja East show during fashion week in New York City, Redken artist Sean Godard created different shades of blue hair for four models inspired by the collection. To achieve model and Redken muse Crystal Renn's look, seen here, Godard fi rst lightened the hair using Redken Flash Lift with 30-volume developer mixed with pH-Bonder (4 ml of pH- Bonder for every ounce of lightener powder used), and processed for 30 minutes. He then created a root shadow by applying Shades EQ Gloss 06T, using the Redken Edging Brush to soften the edges, and processed for 20 minutes. Next, he applied a City Beats formula—2 ounces Clear with ¼ ounce Brooklyn Blue—processing for 20 minutes. Finally, he fi nished with an overlay of Shades EQ 09T to produce a metallic effect. Godard also created blue tie-dye inspired hair looks for Baja East designers John Targon and Scott Studenberg using pH-Bonder for the lightening and City Beats colors. "Today, we're seeing color everywhere," Godard says. "People are changing their hair color as often as one changes their makeup. It's all about having fun and being inspired."
