Rona O'Connor grew up in Toronto and is proud of her Canadian heritage, but she knew early on that one day she would call California home. "The idea of being surrounded by mountains, trees, sunsets and water was my California dream at 15," O'Connor says. "I knew it was the place for me when I studied several states in geography class." O'Connor met her husband, Luke O'Connor, while attending beauty school in Los Angeles and together the pair opened Lukaro Salon in Beverly Hills in 1992. With an impressive roster of celebrity color clients and frequent TV talk show and radio appearances, O'Connor has built a strong reputation as a beauty expert. When she's not at the salon tending to the tresses of Hollywood A-listers like Debra Messing, Heidi Klum, Brooke Shields and Blake Lively, O'Connor enjoys spending time on her other passions: photography, cooking, interior design, practicing yoga and enjoying the outdoors. "Happiness for me changes every day," she says. "I'm happy sitting next to the water, being surrounded by the sunshine and the color green, but I'm equally happy when I create a beautiful hair color. It all feeds my soul." FAVORITE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE Visiting Africa WHY? "Seeing happy faces in a challenging environment is extremely humbling." ? REGRETS "I have no regrets," O'Connor says, "and I never say, 'I should have.'"
