Gonzalez relied on a color melting technique to enhance the texture and shape of this haircut, using the deepest color at the base and melting a medium color and blonde shade though the ends. MASTER TIP "When working with two colors that I'm going to melt, I leave a gap between them of about ½ to 1 inch," Gonzalez says. "Once I've applied the colors, I use a clean brush to merge them together to ensure that I'm not altering the color in the bowl. This works best when working in foils. If I'm not working in foils, I'll generally merge the dark into the light. This helps to ensure a better blend with no lines." | MARCH/APRIL 2017 | The Colorist 43 >
